How to Draw Bulbasaur
Step 1
Starting this Bulbasaur drawing guide, let’s start by outlining the face of this adorable Pokemon.
As you can see in the next images of this guide, we’ll draw Bulbasaur looking straight at it.
Step 2
This Pokemon walks on all fours near the ground and has small, stocky legs that appear more reptilian.
We will add these to your Bulbasaur drawing in this step.
Use some curved lines to outline the front legs as they appear in the reference image, then add three small, pointed claws to the end of each.
These front legs are also connected by a curved line underneath them that acts as Bulbasaur’s abdomen.
Finally, draw the shapes of his hind legs sticking out from his body’s sides and add some pointed nails. That’s it for now, so let’s move on to step 3.
Step 3
For this third step of this Bulbasaur drawing guide, we will draw his facial features along with the pattern on his body.
Next, draw two points for its nose and add a long, wavy line for its frog-like mouth. Once these elements are drawn, we will draw the dots that will decorate her face and body.
These are designed with irregular rounded shapes and applied on her face and legs.
Step 4
This Pokemon always has a large onion-shaped growth on its back, and we’ll add that to your drawing of Bulbasaur in this next part.
The sides of this growth are fairly rounded and narrow as you go up. The very tip of this shape will be quite narrow, and you can use a jagged line for this top edge.
When you have completed the design for this section, we can proceed to the next phase, where we will add the final details and elements to complete it.
Step 5
You are now ready to finish the final details to be ready for the final phase of this How to Draw Bulbasaur guide!
To complete the drawing, you must draw a few more curved lines on the bulbous growth on its back.
These start at the top, curve outward slightly and then attach to the base. Once you’ve added these story details, you can add your details and ideas!
There is a lot you could do to personalize this image. One idea would be to draw a background, and when you do that, you could recreate your favorite Bulbasaur scene or moment.
Step 6
The different species of Pokémon all have a unique color scheme, and the same goes for Bulbasaur.
This is what we used in our example image for this Bulbasaur drawing and you can recreate this color scheme for yourself if you want it to be exact.
While we can view the colors we’ve used to get the colors that match how Bulbasaur appears in games, shows, and movies, you’re also welcome to use your own unique hues!
It’s also fun with the artistic tools and media you use to make your color choices,o make sure you have fun experimenting and see what happens!
